Robby's adaptive fitness journey started the summer of 2015 as an intern with DPI Adaptive Fitness. After eight months of intense immersion in Adaptive Fitness, mentoring from DPI Adaptive Fitness Staff, coursework and an ISSA certification exam he then joined the team as an adaptive trainer on the DPI Adaptive Fitness trainer team.
Since then, Robby has been a lead trainer for DPI group classes such as Adaptive boxing fitness, Mighty MSers, Adaptive Balance & Core, Adaptive Open Gym, Adaptive Power Posture, and Adaptive HIIT for both in-person & virtual programming. Robby has also been a lead trainer for adaptive fitness programming run at the Medstar National Rehabilitation Hospital overseeing support staff and programming for upwards of 40 participants living with a variety of physical disabilities.
Currently, Robby utilizes his 7 years of experience in adaptive fitness programming running 1:1 sessions for clients living with Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy and more in addition to the group programming mentioned above. Additionally he uses his experience to now mentor new interns and adaptive trainers at the gym.
While working as an adaptive fitness trainer Robby pursued and graduated from George Mason University with his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and also completed his coursework in Adaptive Fitness Specialization through the Medical Fitness Network.
He was a co-presenter on Group Adaptive Fitness programming at the 2022 Idea World Conference in Las Vegas (A first in the 40 year history of this respected fitness organization)
Robby plans to begin authoring Adaptive Fitness continuing education coursework on the Medical Fitness Network platform.
Robby is dedicated to focusing his energy and passion in helping the adaptive fitness community and hopes to continue to define the role of Adaptive Fitness Trainer at DPI.
He currently leads in person MS Classes, Virtual adaptive fitness classes, 1:1 Adaptive Fitness sessions and performs FES Bike Assessments
