My husband was diagnosed with RA and I have disks problem in both my neck and back. We were not sure how we were going to continue doing the things that we loved because of all the pain. My doctor sent me to Physical Therapy which is how I met Devon. I work with Devon for a couple of months in PT and towards the end I asked if he worked with people that have health issues that at times keep them from moving, that was almost a year ago. In the beginning all I wanted was for my husband and I get moving again. We started slow, he's been very patient with us. He has vast knowledge of the fitness industry, he emails us new articles about fitness and health, we have also created accounts online so that he can follow our workouts at home. The end story is he was key in helping take two people from the couch to working out 3 days a week, boxing, weight training, hiking, walking, golfing and so much more. At the end of this month we are going on a great trip with our kids to the Canadain Rockies, before Devon we would be waiting at the condo for the kids to come back, now we will be hiking with the kids, thanks Devon, he is the best trainer, health coach a person could ask for -

I recommend Devon without reservation. He is the best Personal Trainer I have ever worked with. He designed a work-out program that perfectly matches my wishes/goals and I am having a ton of fun being challenged in the work-outs. Devon is extremely knowledgeable and always finds the right balance of motivation and patience. He is extremely personally (we currently work out twice a week together and it is important to respect and enjoy the company of your trainer). Devon is in incredible shape and practices great nutrition--he has a ton of knowledge to teach me. - Jeff Lehrer |
I was involved in body building and power lifting for over 20 years. Over the course of my training I have dealt with many physical therapist and trainers. Some of whom train NFL players. In all my experiences, Devon has been by far the most effective and efficient trainer I have had. In March of 2013 I injured myself to the point that I lost feelings in both my legs and could not even stand. I was taken to ER and spent 7 days in hospital before I could even stand. I was diagnosed with 5 herniated disks. L1 through L5S1. The doctors told me that I will need a surgery and will never see inside of a gym again. This was few months after my first child's birth and the thought of not being to ever hold her to live my life normally almost made me depress. It has been over a year and with Devon's help, not only I avoided any surgery but I now work out 2 hours/ day 4 days a week. I learned how to work out but more importantly how to live my daily life without jeopardizing my back. I will continue to work with Devon as long as I plan to stand or walk. Thank you. By the way, my 2nd child is on the way and I look forward to playing with her as I do with my first.

I’ve been attending Devon Palermo’s, “Adaptive Boxing Fitness” class sponsored by the MedStar-National Rehabilitation Hospital in DC since January 2014. I can say I truly have benefited from his knowledge and expertise in the world of fitness, “my world“ of Adaptive Fitness. He pushes you to your maximum potential without risk or fail of accomplishing your goals. He has a vast knowledge on multiple levels of abilities. I haven’t followed a consistent exercise program in years…it feels good to get back into the “roll" of things. I highly recommend Devon to be your certified adaptive personal trainer.

I am glad Devon has been placed in my path. I am a former baseball player from many years ago and only wish he had been around during my high school and collegiate years on the diamond. For, I have not doubt he can push anyone (professional or amateur) to the next level all for the greater good of their health and fitness. Do not expect cookie cutter workouts and/or him allowing you to merely put in a 1/2 hearted effort. If you need him to tell you what you want to hear, stay away. If you want him to tell you what you do not want to hear, call him.

I had the privilege of working with Devon after a hamstring injury from playing soccer. That was the best fitness experience of my life. He is a very patient person to work with. After I recovered from the injury, I was so impressed with the work he did, I stayed with him for another 2 months for personal fitness training. Devon exceeded my expectations, and I will work with him again in the near future.

I worked with Devon from 2009 through 2011, and had a great experience with him. He changed my routine every 8-10 sessions to keep things fresh and interesting. I was in the best shape I have ever been during the time we worked out together. Devon listened to my needs in terms of developing a routine I could take on the road (I often travel for work), and could complete in my hotel room or gym without difficulty. My routine at home did not require equipment and utilized things we had around the house. In addition to being an excellent trainer, he was able to provide great advice on the nutrition front to supplement the results from our work-outs. Due to scheduling conflicts, I had to stop our work together (and have thus not maintained the results I achieved with his help and support); otherwise, I would still be working with Devon.

I hired Devon to work with my husband as his personal trainer and then had the opportunity to train with him myself. Devon and I worked together for over a year. He introduced me to boxing, which I LOVED! Devon always managed to find fitness routines that would challenge me and help me strengthen the areas that I needed to work on the most. He gave me excellent nutrition and fitness advice and helped me map out the best way to train for my first triathlon. I often accessed his expertise as a physical therapist and eventually went to him for PT as well. You cannot go wrong with Devon! He's patient and understanding, but also makes you sweat!

A few months ago I reached out to Devon after suffering lower back pain. The pain was so severe that it made it difficult for me to walk and even taking care of my children made it difficult. I sought out Devon's expertise after visiting a doctor's office as the medications prescribed was not healing the pain. After the few exercises Devon had me do I can honestly say I noticed a difference and felt much better. He was able to tell me what could've caused the pain and what exercises I needed to do in order to help my core muscles so that I can prevent it from happening again. I continue to do the exercises as told and slowly am seeing results with my core muscles. I trust Devon with his expertise and know he would be the person I would call on if I ever were to need him again. Thanks Devon!

My wife is in her 14th month of her recovery from an anoxic brain injury. She recently started attending the Saturday afternoon sessions at the Fairfax facility and she frequently talks about what a good time she has and how it is helping her get better. The trainers are both compassionate and demanding; and create an atmosphere where everyone is welcome and everyone can work hard toward positive results. Nancy even got boxing gloves for Christmas and uses them at home! -Sheldon H
Pablo just left after a terrific workout, I am so glad I found your group that can design specialized workouts for my needs.

Pablo is a treasure. He is patient, encouraging, knowledgeable and VERY strong. His sessions can both promote and inspire recovery from spinal cord injuries and similar conditions. There can't be many like him.

I've been working with Pablo for several months and have seen amazing results in that time. I have never felt stronger or healthier. I am a 49 year-old female diagnosed with early young onset Parkinson's disease two years ago. I am prone to falls because the disease affects my balance, gait and posture. Pablo is passionate about fitness and it shows through the energy, preparation, and enthusiasm he brings to every session. He educated himself on Parkinson's to design an exercise program tailored for me that targets every area the disease affects. He is easy going, friendly, and his personality creates a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. He makes each workout challenging, creative and most importantly, fun! He also places a high value on correct form with each exercise. Pablo is very caring and attentive to what each client needs, what their limits are, and how far he can push them. He encourages and motivates me to do better, and yet he knows how much I am capable of. He motivates me to push beyond my perceived limits to get results. I have incredible energy, my balance and flexibility have improved immensely and I've got great new muscles. My stomach has never looked better! If you are serious about changing your life for the better, Pablo will lead you every step of the way. I highly recommend him. You won't be disappointed! - Jackie Rosa |
After a devastating fall on a treadmill, I received the shattered
prognosis that I will never walk again. This also was conveyed to me
by the physical therapists (PT) who were oblivious to my tragedy.
Nevertheless, my intuition told me otherwise.
Months of wasted PT, led to weakened muscles and body. Then a PT's
assistant recommended that I call DPI Adaptive Fitness. I spoke with
the owner, Devon who himself is also an excellent Adaptive Fitness
trainer, and he recommended Pablo. From the first day when I met Pablo
at the gym, we had a joined objective - to get my muscles strong so I
can stand and walk.
The process was slow, but Pablo was persistent, gentle and very
patient. Fast forward, a year and a half later - I'm walking with the
help of a cane. I still need Pablo's some assistance for balance, but
I'm getting stronger every day, and expect to walk independently in
the very near future.
I highly recommend Pablo to anyone with physical disability. His
commitment and caring approach will give you extra boost to over reach
your body's upper limits. He will challenge you, but will always take
into consideration your strengths and limitations at a given level.
Those who are fortunate to get work with him, can expect to work with
an individual who is professional, reliable, knowledgeable and caring.
